Motorola has unveiled new Android devices for the Chinese market. The new devices belong to the MING Series that was created in 2006 specially for Chinese consumers with Chinese handwriting support. Three new phones announced today feature an improved MING flip design and the reminiscent transparent flip cover.

Handset major Sony Ericsson announced three new mobile phones, including an entry level 3G handset. The company unveiled the Xperia-X8 entertainment smartphone based on the Android platform, besides Cedar, a basic entry level 3G enabled handset and Yendo, a touch screen walkman phone.

Adding to its Android lineup, Motorola announced the launch of two new android based smart phones in India. Motorola Milestone XT720, world’s slimmest 8 Megapixel camera phone is loaded with Android 2.1 while Motorola Backflip, world’s first reverse flip designed handset is disappointedly powered by Android 1.5.

Viber, the famous application for iPhone that allows free phone calls and text messaging is going to make its debut in Android this week.
The only drawback is that Viber to Android for the time being in beta, which means they still has to polish some rough edges. Moreover, they can only test 500 people who signed in place for the testing of the application.

Nearly 200,000 mobile messages are sent every second around the world, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The number of sent SMS has tripled between 2007 and 2010, from 1.8 billion three years ago to 6.1 billion that was reached at the beginning of this.

Microsoft officially announced Windows Phone 7 – its next generation mobile phone OS at a media event earlier today.
